Pearl's Garden Quilt

Pearl’s Garden Quilt is a bountiful harvest of vegetable and herbs. The background blocks are pieced in an offset setting with squares and rectangles. There are twelve 9” x 12” vegetable and herb blocks and, for a bit of whimsy, four smaller 6” x 9” herb and insect blocks. Each of the large blocks combine appliqué vegetable, embroidery herb, and inked lettering. The smaller blocks have appliqué insects, embroidery herb, and inked lettering. The quilt is assembled in vertical rows giving it a surprising diagonal setting.

The pattern has full size pattern layout for the appliqué blocks and easy to follow hand appliqué and piecing and inking directions.

Redwork Riding Hood

Redwork is believed to have originated in Europe in the early 1800’s and traveled to America around 1850. The name Redwork is derived from the red cotton thread that was used to create this charming style of embroidery. The cotton processors in Turkey used a special dye process that made it colorfast. Redwork was also called Turkey Redwork. The availability of color fast red thread and inexpensive cotton fabric led to its popularity from the 1860’s through the 1920’s.

Redwork Riding Hood quilt is 52” x 56” finished Redwork embroidery quilt. Two 11” x 17” and eight 11” x 11” blocks surround the center 17” x 22” Red Riding Hood block. The border is finished with appliqué saw tooth border. The pattern has full size pattern drawings and easy to follow hand piecing and embroidery directions.

Wedding Bouquet

Something old, something new describes the blocks used to make the Wedding Bouquet Quilt. Combining traditional Double Wedding Ring blocks and alternate Star Blocks made from 12½" x 12½" squares, then set on point, gives this quilt its unique look. The easy to sew arc can be used as a solid arc or the traditional segmented arc setting. The Wedding Ring block has curved seams that are very gradual, making them easy to sew. My Wild Irish Rose Quilt

My inspiration for this quilt was an Irish chain quilt with the blocks gone wild. After I made the quilt and looked at it on the wall, I discovered I had made a Jewel Box pattern. I still see the Irish Chain, so I still call this the Irish Rose.
