Kentucky’s nickname The Bluegrass State for its vast expanse of bluegrass across the state. Bluegrass is not really blue, it’s green. In the spring seen from a distance, the blue-purple buds of Bluegrass tint to the landscape. Kentucky is famous for horse breeding, Tobacco farms, and the Kentucky Derby. Kentucky as home to many famous people from Abraham Lincoln, Jim Bowie, and Kit Carson. State symbols: Blackberries, Thoroughbred, Goldenrod, and Tulip Polar.
